I’m a corporate – get me out of here!

So you’re working in a corporate job and thinking about buying a franchise…

The good news is, there are certain aspects of corporate life which place you in good stead.

  1. Systems and processes. A good franchise has well developed systems and processes, and they want you to follow them.

  2. Dealing with people. Knowing how to deal with others is an important element in running your own franchise. From customers, to staff, to suppliers, to dealing with the franchisor.

  3. Long hours. Many people in corporate work long hours. This is part of life when you’re running your own business!

But there are other aspects of running a business which corporate life does not prepare you for.

  1. Jack of all trades. There are no departments to look after the various aspects of your business. You need to be on top of all of it; HR, marketing, finance, etc.

  2. Cashflow pressure. It’s up to you to make the money and keep it rolling through the business.

  3. Loneliness. It can be quite lonely running your own business. Yes, a franchise offers support, but there are many times when you’re on your own.

But running your own business can still be one of the most exhilarating rides of your life!

Let me know if you need a hand.
